Tempted

So I think I grew a bit today. After walking the breast cancer walk this morning and going with my amazing sister to our friend Kassi's brother's funeral I was more than a little bummed. Just to make sure I told my sister I loved her before she left to hang out with Kassi and their friends, I made sure she knew I loved her.
So "as usual" I felt the need to buy something to make me feel better. The plan was go to Best Buy and then JoAnn Fabrics and maybe get lunch. Well after doing a lot of research about car audio, home entertainment systems and multi electronic remotes, I amazingly told the sales person I was talking to I probably ought to go home and think it over. Victory number one. When I was heading out of the shopping center I went the wrong way, making it much more difficult to go to JoAnn's. So I sighed and stayed headed towards home. Victory (by mistake) number two. So thinking about where I wanted to get lunch and stopped in the parking lot to the Cinema Grill. Looking at play times for Real Steel and realizing I would have to wait two more hours (and I was getting hungry). Victory number three. So I sighed and thought back to how so far I had avoided spending money  while down. So continued on my way home...but as I approached DQ on Maysville was thinking about at least getting a blizzard, when I car got into the lane next to me so I couldn't turn in.  Victory (by defeat) number four. So I came home and has some pasta and coke abstract sat in the sun abstract read.
Go me!....next thought....can I keep it up?

Getting Ready.

So does anybody know why it's so hard to get motivated to actually get things done sometimes.  I wish it was easier, I've been trying to get my "area" all clean and ready so that when I come back from visiting family this coming weekend I'm still ready for the upcoming work week. So far I've managed to vacuum some (before it needed charged again) and get clothes washed (not ironed yet though).  I still have more picking up to do and if I can swing it I still have boxes that I need to get put outside in my "storage" area in the garage.
Ooo, Ooo...so my DIY for the week/weekend was hooking up a hose to the new dehumidifier so I don't have to keep emptying it every 8-10 hours. That was exciting, but what I'm really looking forward to is repainting the deck outside in another monthish once it's a bit cooler out.

DIY

So yea....I have totally been watching too much DIY while working (slowly) on other stuff.  Remember the earlier post where I described the entertainment center that I designed and wanted to make?  Well, now I would love to be able to design and eventually make some more of my own things. For example, a book case, bed frame, head board and maybe a bigger job, but still doable, dressers!  Crazy me.  Oh well, give me cool ideas that you think might be cool to add into those types of designs.  One thing I was thinking is putting a set of small round speakers somewhere into the headboard design. (I listen to music as I go to sleep at night; also if you have a tv in your room, you could totally hook up the speakers to the tv as well!)  Help me have some fun thinking and dreaming!!

Ideas

Just finally got to look at all my mom's wedding photos, how is it that we can take a bunch of pictures of the same thing, and they all come out different?  It just amazes me.
On another note. Does anyone have tips or suggestions on how to compare cars during the buying process? I'm just thinking and planning, not buying anything immediately. I'm trying to decide on a car that will potentially last me awhile, even into when I have kids. I'm looking for something with good highway gas mileage, air and cruise. Those are my top priorities, next on the list would be sound and cruise controls on the wheel and good speakers. Now, obviously I need all the normal safety stuff, at this point I'm thinking all the cars being made now are pretty well equipped with that kind of stuff. A couple vehicles I've looked at a bit are the 2011 Chevy Equinox, the 2012 Hyundai Elantra and Accent, also the Toyota Prius. If I think far enough ahead, like when I may have kids, a bit larger would be nice so there's enough room for family and luggage. Being able to fit hardware type stuff for the occasional project would be nice too.

Ooops...

Ok...so, "my bad."  I haven't been posting every other day like I said I would try to do...maybe I should aim for twice a week instead.
I do have to admit though, I have been fairly busy.  Let's see, I figured out how to hook up the sound system in my living area, rearranged my furniture and (the most exciting one I think) designed an entertainment center.
I really hope that once I have my own place I'll have a little extra (what's that??) money so that I can actually build it myself.  The way that I have designed it is pretty cool (I think.) I've made into three separate shelving type units with wheels on the bottom so they're easier to move around.  They are (at this point) designed to only be about 4 1/2 feet tall; two are 2 1/2 feet wide and one is 3 feet wide.  The one that is 3 feet is for my tv right now but with lots of room for it to be able to grow at some point. The unit on the left side will have four shelves for VHS and DVD's and the unit on the right will the area for the receiver, DVD/VHS player, and the wii. The fun part about the right unit is, is that I'm planning on installing a small fan (somehow, I haven't quite figured out how just yet) on the back of the shelves that will contain the receiver and DVD player. Don't ask my why but I'm super excited about it!!
I have also decided, that if I have time at some point, to paint one of my little dressers so that it's kind of like a night sky scene.  :)
Well, right now it's a little late, and my Mom is here for the weekend and I ought to spend some time with her!

Hot!

So, I think I've decided that air conditioning is something we all take for granted.  Something has been up with our air for the last couple days.  It will run, but not cool and water is leaking from Trane equipment in the sump pump room. I'm glad it's leaking in there though, the water runs into the sump pump and not everywhere else. Last time I checked upstairs it was 90-95 degrees; when I just checked down here, it's thankfully still 70 degrees.  I am so glad that I'm living downstairs at this point.

First Posting

Hello!
So this is obviously the first post....this has come around from me talking with my sister, dad and step-mom.  I've decided it's an easy way for them to keep up and help keep me accountable; as well as having a spot to work on my learning skills.

So I've been watching the clouds and weather today.  The clouds have been awesome towards the Northwest.  I've also been watching diy network.  I really like watching the "crashers" shows. I love learning (as much as you can from just watching) how to do some of the renovations they do.  Here's hoping someday I have the chance to learn more about that kind of stuff as well as putting some of the knowledge to use in my own home.

I think this is a good start....now....the goal is for me to post at least every other day.  Any ideas/comments on where to look for learning tips or your own are always welcome!!
